 I started using GRASS-GIS/R as part of my graduate research, and since then have been actively using, testing and following other open-source projects including GDAL/OGR, UMN Mapserver and QGIS. More recently I have been involved in the development of geospatial applications applied to forest inventory using GDAL, Orfeo Toolbox and pktools.
