== Purpose ==

Get together project members to make decisions and tackle larger geospatial problems (as done last year at the [[IslandWood Code Sprint 2012]] and previous years: [[Montreal Code Sprint 2011|Montreal]] (2011), [[New York Code Sprint 2010|New York City]] (2010), and [[Toronto Code Sprint 2009|Toronto]] (2009)). This code sprint is targeting members of the "C Tribe" (eg, MapServer, GRASS, GDAL, Proj, PostGIS, MapGuide, OpenLayers). Other tribes are welcome to join the sprint, of course, but we hope that "C Tribe" members will give this event special consideration.

We've decided not to get a block of rooms because it seems it is pricier than having people pick the hotel they like best.

Our recommendation is to book your own room via Hotwire or Priceline.

For Hotwire, any hotel in the Financial District will be within walking distance.

Boston has no major conventions during the Code Sprint.

There are over a dozen hotels name-brand and boutique within a ½ mile, all rated above three stars.

This is OSGeo's 4th annual "North American Codesprint" -- a time to bring members of OSGeo-related projects together to make decisions and tackle larger problems.

= Timing =

February 5-9, 2012. 

The event will be begin on Feb 5th (Sunday night arrival), span three full days of sprinting, and end after lunch on the 9th (Thursday).

There will be one formal (but optional) "team building / outdoor fun" event, run for us by the IslandWood staff. Details TDB. Dress appropriately. The event will likely be 2-3 hours, before dinner on either Tuesday or Wednesday.

IslandWood offers lots of trails, ponds, etc, for informal walks / jogs / etc you can explore at any time on your own.

There will likely also be an informal walk down to the beach (2-3 miles, off campus), hosted by mpg.

There will be one formal (but optional) "team building / outdoor fun" event, run for us by the IslandWood staff.  Details tbd.  Dress appropriately.  The event would likely be 2-3 hours, before dinner on either Tuesday or Wednesday. 

IslandWood offers lots of trails, ponds, etc, for informal walks / jogs / etc you can explore at any time on your own. 

There would likely also be an informal walk down to the beach (2-3 miles, off campus), hosted by mpg.

== Purpose ==

Get together project members to make decisions and tackle larger problems, see the [[Toronto Code Sprint 2009 Agenda]]. We have chosen a mid-North American location because this code sprint is targeting members of the "C Tribe" (eg, Mapserver, GRASS, GDAL, Proj, PostGIS, MapGuide) and many members of the "C Tribe" are clustered in the area. Toronto is also a major travel hub, for sprinters traveling from afar. Other tribes are welcome to join the sprint, of course, but we hope that "C Tribe" members will give this event special consideration.
