This page shows some screenshots of the results of a 6 day WebGIS workshop at the IODE Project Office (UNESCO/IOC) in Oostende, Belgium. Paticipants came from Ecuador, Colombia, Peru, Chile, online resources from Brazil and a special guest from Belgium. During the course the page [[Sudamerica]] was created and some of the participants left their traces in this Wiki. Contact them or hack the correpsonding page if you are interested to further this local chapter, workgroup, page of interrest or whatever it will turn out to be.

= Interoperabilidad =
Spatial data does not stop at given borders. Therefore it is important to make the systems that host them interoperable. One standards organization in the spatial realm is the [http://www.opengeospatial.org OGC] (Open Geospatial Consortium) who defined the interface specifications WMS to get maps and WFS to get the corresponding features. Those features are coded in an XML schmea called GML (Geographic Markup Language) another standard as defined by OGC. In the following section some of these services can be seen and tested.

== Test WMS Services ==
Use the [http://mapbender.telascience.org/ OSGeo Mapbender installacion] to create an account.

Log on with your new account. From the list that is displayed select and open the user interface called <tt>gui</tt>. (As a tip, it might be easier to use the browser software Firefox because it can open several browser instances in the same window).

After opening the interface zou see a map with several services, thez come from different places in the world (to be able to access them you need to be online!). Browse around and have a look at the different datasets.

You can add more services by typing in the Capabilities Request of the service. Open the button called <tt>Adding WMS</tt> and type in the following WMS GetCapabilities request:
