= Interoperabilidad =
Spatial data does not stop at given borders. Therefore it is important to make the systems that host them interoperable. One standards organization in the spatial realm is the [http://www.opengeospatial.org OGC] (Open Geospatial Consortium) who defined the interface specifications WMS to get maps and WFS to get the corresponding features. Those features are coded in an XML schmea called GML (Geographic Markup Language) another standard as defined by OGC. In the following section some of these services can be seen and tested.

== WMS Services ==
Use el [http://mapbender.telascience.org/ OSGeo Mapbender installacion] para crear una cuenta.

Inicie sesión con la nueva cuenta. De la lista desplegada seleccione y abra la interfase de usuario llamada <tt>gui</tt>. (Como un tip, es más fácil usando el explorador [http://www.mozilla.com/ Firefox] porque puede abrir varias pestañas en una misma ventana y además contiene herramientas para analizar las aplicaciones Web).

Una vez abierta la interfase podrá observar varios servicios que provienen de diferentes partes del mundo (para poder acceder a dichos servicios necesitas estar en línea!). Recorre la interfase y observa diferentes datasets.

Puedes adicionar más servicios digitando el servicio llamado Capabilities Request. Abre el botón llamado <tt>Adding WMS</tt> y digite en siguiente solicitud del WMS GetCapabilities:

This page shows some screenshots of the results of a 6 day WebGIS workshop at the IODE Project Office (UNESCO/IOC) in Oostende, Belgium. Paticipants came from Ecuador, Colombia, Peru, Chile, online resources from Brazil and a special guest from Belgium. During the course the page [[Sudamerica]] was created and some of the participants left their traces in this Wiki. Contact them or hack the correpsonding page if you are interested to further this local chapter, workgroup, page of interrest or whatever it will turn out to be.
