[http://www.mapbender.org Mapbender] is the software and portal site for geodata management of OGC OWS architectures. The software provides web technology for managing spatial data services implemented in PHP, JavaScript and XML. It provides a data model and interfaces for displaying, navigating and querying OGC compliant map services. The Mapbender framework furthermore provides authentication and authorization services, OWS proxy functionality, management interfaces for user, group and service administration in WebGIS projects.
== New Mapbender features ==

* '''New administration tools''': metadata handling, new administration interfaces.

* '''New treefolder module''': enhanced usability by centralizing controls in one module. Controls in pop-up windows are now obsolete. Also features a WMS status indicator.

* '''Metadata gazetteer''': a text search in WMS/layer metadata and keywords. Retrieves WMS or single layers by an AJAX-query.

* '''Improved WFS-T configurability''': enhanced user interface for easier and richer manipulation of WFS-T data.

* '''Improved digitizing module''': a completely new design following an AJAX-approach. Improved usability and performance.

== Future development ==

* '''integration of OpenLayers''': an integration of OpenLayers as an optional Mapbender module is scheduled for 2007.

* '''WFS-T / Digitizing enhancement''': handling of complex geometries.

* '''wider use of AJAX /JSON and OO technology''': improvement of module interfaces to do justice to wider development audience.

* '''evaluation of packing algorithms''': due to traffic minimization, there are few source code comments. JSDoc and PHPDoc will be used to comment in the future. The traffic issue will be resolved by extracting the comments prior to deployment and by packing JS-code.

== Statistics ==

* '''Increase in developer mailing list participation''': 2006 Q3: 40 posts, 2006 Q4: 121 posts, 2007 Q1: 209 posts (until March 19)

Take a look at Mapbender statistics at [http://www.ohloh.net/projects/3712 Ohloh]. Here are some excerpts:

* '''Project worth''': $2,436,378. "This calculator estimates how much it would cost to hire a team to write this project from scratch."

* '''17 developers''': "Over the past twelve months, 10 developers contributed new code to Mapbender. This is a relatively large team, putting this project among the top 5% of all project teams on Ohloh. For this measurement, Ohloh considered only recent changes to the code. Over the entire history of the project, 17 developers have contributed."

Over the entire history of the project, 17 developers have contributed."

* '''Increase in activity''': "Over the last twelve months, Mapbender has seen a substantial increase in activity. This is probably good sign that interest in this project is rising, and that the open source community has embraced this project."

| I come from the Java side of the OSGeo fence, getting my start in GeoServer, where I was lead developer for a couple years, and GeoTools, where I still serve on the PMC. My time is made possible by [http://topp.openplans.org The Open Planning Project (TOPP)], a great non-profit in New York that has been the lead supporter of GeoServer for years now. I spent the last year in Zambia on a Fulbright Scholarship, looking at the potential for open source software to help implement spatial data infrastructures in developing countries. It was a bit of a failure, but I learned a ton, and I see a lot of potential for open source in developing countries, towards truly open spatial data infrastructures. I'm back at TOPP, in a new role as VP of Strategic Development, helping to grow the organization, and figuring out how to make our geospatial stuff self sustaining. Once that's rolling, I hope to reinvest extra revenue in to figuring out and building a truly open geospatial web. And just like apache and linux are the bedrock that the World Wide Web rests on, so too do I believe that the geospatial web necessarily must be built on a foundation of OS Geo software. My continuing thoughts on all of this can be found at http://cholmes.wordpress.com
| Engineer at LizardTech, doing MrSID and JPEG 2000 stuff and playing with with the next generation of technologies for supporting raster data GIS workflows. Yes, we're a closed-software shop -- but we support and use open source and open standards. I think there is room in the world for both the open and closed development models, and I have a strong interest in helping "closed" companies understand the value of, and contribute to, the open software world. I wrote the Linux Mini-HOWTO on GRASS-GIS (which is now woefully out of date); and taught short courses in scientific (as opposed to cartographic) GIS since 1980. In 1994 I moved my teaching to the Web, developing the CyberInstitute Short-Course on GIS. Currently, I'm at UN ESCAP. Open-Source is a great capacity- building environment for software communities worldwide. In developing countries, rather than being stuck merely teaching people to cut and paste stuff within a proprietary office suite, you can be part of the full development team, customizing the software to your community's needs, helping your country to have its own software development community - and hopefully making a satisfying living in the process.

Wiki-Christoph: /* Mitgliederliste */

''This is the start page of the German language [[Local Chapters]]. This page documents the current dicsussion and has not yet been approved as official OSGeo policy!''

''Hier entsteht die deutschsprachige Präsenz der OSGeo Foundation. Alle deutschsprachigen Seiten, Dokumente und Projekte sollten auf dieser Seite verlinkt werden oder darauf verweisen oder beides.''

== Einführung ==

== Kommunikation ==

== Steuerung ==

=== Wahl ===
Die Wahl erfolgt über drei Zahlen:
-1 = Veto
0 = Mir egal
+1 = Ich unterstütze den Antrag
''(Es gibt Zwischenformen von -0 und +0, die nicht für das Ergebnis, sondern eher für die Diskussion relevant sind)''

=== Veto ===

=== Veto überstimmen ===
Ein Veto kann überstimmt werden. Es gibt verschiedene Varianten:
* absolute Mehrheit der Mitglieder
* alternativ alle anderen oder mindesten vier Mitglieder[2] mit einer +1 wählen.

Kelima dewan direksi pertama OSGeo terdiri

* Arnulf Christl - [http://www.mapbender.org Mapbender], CCGIS, Jerman;
* Chris Holmes - [http://www.geoserver.org/ GeoServer]/[http://www.geotools.org/ GeoTools], The Open Planning Project, Amerika Serikat;
* Frank Warmerdam - [http://www.gdal.org/ GDAL/OGR], Kanada.

Mengenai Lembaga Open Source Geospatial
