= Introduction =

Birds of a Feather (BoF) sessions are unstructured timeslots where people can self-organise themselves to discuss topics of interest.

== General Information ==

During the [[FOSS4G 2019]] conference in Bucharest, there will be a number of spaces for people to hold Birds of a Feather sessions.

=== How to organize a BOF ===

BoF sessions are informal gatherings of people around a specific topic. BoF's can be held in: BoF rooms or taken off-site for breakfast, lunch or dinner!

While FOSS4G is provide space, but the setting up a bird-of-feather meetup is done informally using this wiki, twitter, or on site BoF board.

The BoF sessions rooms are available after regular parallel session times (setup theater style) in the InterContinental Hotel.

This year, once again, we are following the old tradition of hosting a code sprint right after [http://2017.foss4g.org FOSS4G 2017].
The code sprint will be held Saturday August 19th, 2017 at District Hall (http://www.districthallboston.org/).

Participation in the code sprint is free of charge and all folks currently involved or interested in getting involved in OSGeo community projects are welcome.

This is open to all who wish to participate in one or more projects. There’s always plenty to do – it’s not all about programming. Translation, documentation, feedback, discussions, and testing are also very important for projects! Registration with the conference is not a prerequisite for participation in code sprint.

If you plan to attend, please signup in the table below so we have ample time for planning of snacks and drinks!

This year, once again, we are following the old tradition of hosting a code sprint right after [http://2017.foss4g.org FOSS4G 2017].
The code sprint will be held Saturday August 19th, 2017 at District Hall (http://www.districthallboston.org/).

Participation in the code sprint is free of charge and all folks currently involved or interested in getting involved in OSGeo community projects are welcome.

This is open to all who wish to participate in one or more projects. There’s always plenty to do – it’s not all about programming. Translation, documentation, feedback, discussions, and testing are also very important for projects! Registration with the conference is not a prerequisite for participation in code sprint.

If you plan to attend, please signup in the table below so we have ample time for planning of snacks and drinks!

The OSGeo Nordic chapter aims to establish a focal point and forum for both developers and users regarding any issue relating to Free and Open source GIS. It is a non-profit, collaborative, community with North European scope formed to educate about, and advocate, for the benefits of Open source GIS, and to build bridges among different organisations and groups. Denne måten å gjennomføre utvikling på er effektivt for alle, og kostnadene reduseres. Etableringen av et nordisk OSGeo chapter er et forsøk på å utvide dette samarbeidet til å gjelde flere programvarekomponenter, og forankre samarbeidet i en større helhet som OSGeo.

Thursday 13th Oct 2011: I heard, at the FOSS4G in Denver, that Pål Kristensen has left Statens Kartverk. I suggest that we give the Nordic chapter a fresh start and form a group of five persons - one for each country. I´m willing to take the Swedish part until at least the end of 2012.
Right now I´m give out o CALL FOR PAPERS for the next "OpenSource för GIS 2012" held in Stockholm 6-7 March 2012. If you have any suggestions concerning speakers or topics, please let me know.
